Yet another reason

I was hoping we could work TOWARD a more total separation of church and state, not regress to imposingly irrelevant religion-based government decisions. There's no way this ticket stands a chance . . . is there? I thought that the past two elections, and look where we are now. Argentina, here I come! I'm bringing all my friends and cats with me!

Why you shouldn't even consider voting republican:

So the Republican Vice President candidate, Sarah Palin, strongly opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest! And how! She also staunchly opposes funding for sex education, and proposes abstinence-only teaching, just as her children received, all the while her 17 year old daughter is currently knocked up out of wedlock. Does it even make sense?!?!?! The following is an excerpt from today's Yahoo News (a non-preferred but nonetheless valid source):

"Meanwhile, McCain's wife, Cindy, said she doesn't agree with Palin's opposition to abortion in cases of rape and incest. She also parts ways with Palin on sex education.

Palin opposes abortion and rejects the view that pregnancies caused by rape and incest should be exceptions.

"I don't agree with that aspect, but I do respect her for her views," Cindy McCain told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview taped for broadcast Thursday.

Palin has opposed funding sex-education programs in Alaska. However, Cindy McCain told ABC that she advocated abstinence as a part of sex education at her children's school. "I believe that it's twofold and I think all of it should be taught," she said."

Let the blogging commence!

I can't think of a better way to start my blog than with something that made me truly happy yesterday:

These lovely ladies waited 55 years together to become the first same sex couple legally married in the state of California. 55 years my friends! What a happy day for them.

I feel strongly about this issue because I believe that love is not related to religion, and really, like they say, love knows no bounds.  If you are a lady that is happy with a lady as your partner, good for you, all that matters is that you're happy.  

On more personal and unsubstantiated science ideas created by my own brain I believe that we have evolved as a species, with overpopulation and widespread poverty I think the purpose of a union has evolved along with us, and the true purpose of a union is no longer simply to procreate, but rather to bring out the best in someone else, share the good with the bad, comfort each other in times of sorrow, and just experience all that life has to offer with another compatible human being.  What's so wrong with that?

And to all the idiots who had nothing better to do that day than rain on someone else's parade, your protests just made your own selves look crazy insane
